Mulberry Micro Seaton review

I've been thinking about buying a new bag for a long time and I had my eye on a gorgeous leather tote from Aspinal of London. I ordered it but a couple days later I received an email saying there was a mistake on the system and the colour I wanted was out of stock. Obviously I was slightly disheartened, but I quickly started searching the web for alternatives. I went on Mulberry's website, and as I was admiring the Bayswater tote, I saw this gorgeous micro Seaton bag beside it. I'm not one for animal embossed leathers as I much prefer smooth or textured leather (e.g., saffiano leather), but on a small bag I just thought it looked so elegant. I ordered it and 3 days later it arrived!
I unboxed it and first thing I thought was oh wow it is small. I tried it on and instantly fell in love. The angular shape it holds, paired with the signature 'Rider's lock' really does make it an elegant bag. I sent photos to my mum (whom in my opinion is an expert in all things designer), and she said "It looks like a Kelly!". It didn't really click with me at first but now I do see the resemblance, especially to the Hermès Kelly 20 - perhaps that's the reason why as soon as I saw it on the website I knew I wanted it!

The bag comes with an adjustable and removable strap, and a dust bag. There is an internal slip pocket inside for a card. The material is croc embossed calf skin leather, and the internal flap is suede. The material is so shiny and looks like it will be scratch-resistant but we'll have wait and see for that! I don't have any worries about longevity of this brand as I have a Heritage Bayswater bought in 2014 that is still going strong - I use it as my everyday work bag (prior to lockdown) and there's minimal wear and tear.

So what I can fit in the bag? Well, to my surprise it can fits all my essentials. It fits an iPhone Xr, hand sanitiser, lip gloss, hand cream (75ml) and a small Tory Burch wallet.

I wanted this bag mainly because I don't have a bag in this size, and, because I wanted something that I could use in the evenings for dinner or drinks at a nice restaurant/bar (obviously not anytime soon) but also during the day time for an afternoon stroll or grocery shop. I like that you can use this bag by its top handle or as a cross body bag for a more casual look. Here's a few outfits I put together to showcase the bag. I seriously can't wait for autumn and winter as this bag especially goes well with coats!

An autumn look - high waisted black trousers with a black embroidery crop top and brown overcoat.

I'm obsessed with neutrals and black at the moment - this is a beige turtle neck jumper paired with high waist black skirt and a beige blazer.

More of a summer look - white shirt with beige linen trousers and a denim crop jacket.
As you can see, the base of this bag is slightly larger than my hand. At first I honestly thought it was too small for my frame but after fitting my essentials in and styling it with different outfits, it's honestly the perfect little black bag. This micro bag can be styled with both winter/casual clothes and casual/formal clothes. I can see this bag going really well with mini and midi going-out dresses (although that's not really my style). The exact measurements are as follows:
Height: 15cm
Width: 19cm
Depth: 8cm
Handle drop: 5cm
Shoulder strap drop: 47-59cm
If you're looking for a mini bag that is spacious, elegant and versatile then this is the bag for you. There are 4 different sizes to the Seaton bag - micro, mini, small and Seaton (this one is a tote and can fit a laptop), and they come in various colours and textures. The price of Seaton bags vary between £650-1450 so it's in that sweet spot of a more 'affordable' luxury designer bag (especially when they go on sale!). If you have any questions about the bag do let me know!
That's all for now,
Denise :)
